Who We Are
The Quality of Life Partnership is responding to the challenges of an ageing population by bringing older people and agencies together to find ways of meeting the needs and aspirations of older people. People aged 50+ make up a third of the population of Newcastle (83,000). Within this cohort of people there is great diversity of experience, health, wealth and expectation.
We have recently developed .....
information NOW
‘Information, information, information’ is what older people have told us they need to enable them to stay involved, live healthy lives and access the services they require. We have responded by developing this website, which presents information from the perspective of an older person, family member or carer.
We appreciate that not every older person can easily access the internet, so we are also working closely with services to make sure that staff who are in contact with older people can support them to find the information they need.
Newcastle Trades Register
We often hear older people crying out for good and reliable tradespeople. We are delighted to be able to promote the Newcastle Trades Register, which gives older people access to suitable tradespeople who have been through a checking and vetting process.
Everyone's Tomorrow - The Strategy for Older People and an Ageing Population in Newcastle upon Tyne
The Quality of Life Partnership and Newcastle City Council have published Everyone's Tomorrow - The Strategy for Older People and an Ageing Population in Newcastle upon Tyne, with the support of the Elders Council of Newcastle, Newcastle Primary Care Trust and Age Concern Newcastle amongst others. The Strategy is based on issues which older people identified as important in ‘The Way Ahead’, first published by the Elders Council of Newcastle in 2003 and updated in 2005.
There is an Executive Summary, an Action Plan and an Outcomes Framework, which summarise the key themes.
