Food Growing Initiative

THIS PROJECT ENDED IN OCTOBER 2007

The Newcastle Food Growing Initiative employ a part time food growing worker to give hands on support to community groups and schools in growing their own food.

The aims of the Food Growing Initiative are to:

  • Increase involvement of socially excluded groups in producing their own food.
  • Increase the number of schools growing food.
  • Increase use of allotments and other green space for food production/use of surplus.
  • Increase numbers of people preparing what they have grown to eat it.

We can help you:

  • Find a space to grow things
  • Decide what is possible
  • Prepare plots
  • Plan the crops
  • Give ongoing advice
  • Obtain funding
