Food Growing Initiative
THIS PROJECT ENDED IN OCTOBER 2007
The Newcastle Food Growing Initiative employ a part time food growing worker to give hands on support to community groups and schools in growing their own food.
The aims of the Food Growing Initiative are to:
- Increase involvement of socially excluded groups in producing their own food.
- Increase the number of schools growing food.
- Increase use of allotments and other green space for food production/use of surplus.
- Increase numbers of people preparing what they have grown to eat it.
We can help you:
- Find a space to grow things
- Decide what is possible
- Prepare plots
- Plan the crops
- Give ongoing advice
- Obtain funding
