A major piece of work for the Centre this year has been the development of a Carers Support Service with funding from Newcastle Social Services Directorate and the Newcastle NHS Primary Care Trust. The development of this service has enabled the Centre to take much needed one-to-one support for carers out into the community.
Throughout the year the Carers Centre has played a major part in the development and implementation of the Newcastle Carers Strategy. This multi agency strategy draws together Health, Social Services and the Voluntary sector in partnership to improve the lives of carers in Newcastle.
