Who We Are

BAN waste seeks to support a zero waste policy in Newcastle. We believe that maximising recycling and composting rates within the city will also lead to a more prosperous, safer and healthier city. Over the last 12 months we have been engaged in a number of projects to promote recycling.

A social enterprise which has been developed by BAN Waste members called “Little Wasters” has developed a lottery for residents who put out their recycling boxes as an incentive scheme. There are a number of prizes including a monthly prize of £1000.

A second social enterprise “BOB Recycle” is supporting a number of recycling initiatives including one which services and gives away discarded bikes.

In all of our projects we are working in partnership with Newcastle City Council and we are also engaged in continuous dialogue with them to see the realisation of a sustainable waste policy within the city.
