Welcome to Newcastle Community Food Initiative
The Community Food Initiative aims to improve access to healthy, affordable food especially for disadvantaged groups, throughout the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. The work includes:
- Facilitate food grant scheme to projects in Newcastle.
- Help with many aspects of developing a food project, e.g. providing resources, help with fundraising, signposting, publicity and sharing our ideas and experience.
- Give advice and share information.
- Link our food projects with local, regional and national food policies and strategies.
- Raise awareness of the food issues faced by people in Newcastle and the good work achieved by local food projects.
Community Food Initiative Food Grants
Apply for up to £1500!
The Community Food Initiative runs a biannual food grant scheme available to community projects or organisations in Newcastle to improve access to healthy food in local communities and/or support local people to have a healthy, varied and balanced diet.
Addressing barriers to healthy eating, such as affordability or availability, the possible negative impact of culture and lack of food skills.
The grants can be used to purchase equipment - to grow or to cook! Or to fund the running costs of a cooking skills programme. For more information on how to apply click here.
