Welcome to the Newcastle Healthy City website.  We work to promote health issues of citizens of Newcastle and work to reduce the inequalities in health in the city.

Our values are firmly based around a belief in participation.  Through this we create a sense of ownership as well as encourage mutually supportive initiatives that benefit the wellbeing and health of people living and working in Newcastle.

   ACCESSIBLE EVENTS GUIDE

"This ends the debate decisively. Health care is an important determinant of health. Lifestyles are important determinants of health. But... it is factors in the social environment that determine access to health services and influence lifestyle choices in the first place."

(WHO Director-General Dr Margaret Chan, at the launch of the final report of the Commission on the Social Determinants of Health).
